Swim Instructor and Life Guard Part Time

GTA Swim Academy was established by former lifeguards and swim instructors who are now parents, who are looking to provide high-quality swimming lessons for children. We are looking for instructor/guards who are passionate about swimming and want to share their love of the sport with others.
Preference will be given to applicants who are duly qualified as both Lifeguards and Swim Instructors.
Position: Swim Instructor / Lifeguard
Hourly Wage: $20.25/ hour
Pool Location: Sir Wilfrid Laurier Collegiate – 145 Guildwood Parkway, Scarborough, ON M1E 1P5
Available Shifts (Indicate your availability on your resume/application):
• Mondays from 5:30 pm to 9:00 pm
• Wednesday from 5:30 pm to 9:00 pm
• Saturdays from 9:15 am to 12:45 pm
• Saturdays from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm
Anticipated Start Date for Lessons: Saturday, April 1, 2023
Swim Instructor Responsibilities:
• Provide swim instruction based on the Lifesaving Society’s swim program
• Create lesson plans for each session
• Evaluate students’ performance to ensure ongoing improvement using report cards
• Interact with parents/guardians on the development of students’ swim skills
• Take attendance
• Enforce safety rules and regulations
• Report issues to Aquatic Program Supervisor as appropriate
• Attend staff in-services and trainings
Lifeguard Responsibilities:
• Ensure that all safety and lifeguarding procedures are followed
• Complete a safety check of lifesaving equipment prior to each shift
• Provide care according to NLS and Standard First Aid CPR C expectations
• Report issues to Aquatic Program Supervisor as appropriate
• Attend staff in-services and trainings
Lifeguard and Swim Instructor Qualifications:
• Current National Lifeguard (NLS) certification and Standard First Aid & CPR Level C, and Swim Instructor certification
• Previous swim instruction experience is an asset
• Must attend ALL three mandatory training dates: March 6, March 20, and March 27

Part-time hours: 5-15 per week

• Evening shift
