Plaster/Taper Apprentice Full Time

Wage:
$34.98 per hour (full-time position; 37.5 hours) + benefits in accordance with UNION collective agreement

Location of Work:
Various locations throughout the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), Province of Ontario

Job Description:
• Review and complete PDI deficiency lists
• Apply paper or mesh tape and joint compound over drywall joints
• Mix plaster ingredients in trough to desired consistency
• Apply, level and smooth coats of plaster using trowels, floats, brushes and spraying equipment
• Cure freshly plastered surfaces
• Perform drywall repairs, patching, sanding and painting touch-ups
• Complete minor caulking and finishing work
• Repair minor damage to walls, ceilings and finishes
• Identify incomplete or defective work and report any issues requiring another trade
• Protect finished surfaces and keep work areas clean
• Take before-and-after photos and provide updates on completed work
• Coordinate with site supervisors, homeowners and other trades when required
• Follow all company policies and health and safety requirements

Job Requirements:
• 1-2 years of previous experience with PDI, deficiency or general handyman work
• Knowledge of hand and power finishing tools, taping machines, and mixing equipment
• Knowledge of drywall, painting and finishing repairs
• Ability to lift heavy materials, work in awkward positions, and work on ladders or scaffolding
• Ability to work independently and complete tasks efficiently
• Able to follow instructions and work well with others on construction sites.
• Good attention to detail and problem-solving skills
• Ability to read deficiency lists and follow instructions
• Own basic tools and reliable transportation
• Valid driver’s licence
