Press Operator

Teknion Custom Solutions is seeking a Press Operator to join our team. We are a custom wood office furniture manufacturer producing a large variety of office furniture.  The Press Operator helps apply veneer and laminate to core materials like particle board, MDF and plywood, facilitating their movement through the production line.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Read and interpret shop drawings and job instruction documents,
• Check that materials delivered to the press department align with the material details on work orders,
• Employ safe and appropriate material handling methods for wood furniture to prevent damage and injuries,
• Familiarity with the press’s cycle timing, pressure requirements, and temperature settings,
• Understand proper stacking techniques for product unloaded from the press to prevent damage by interlayer debris or stains,
• Understand the quality standards for the press area.

• Energetic and enthusiastic attitude, thriving in a collaborative team,
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills,
• Approaches work with a high degree of organization and attention to detail,
• Must be able to organize workload and prioritize activities based on key responsibilities,
• Demonstrates strong English communication skills, both written and oral.

Assets: 

• 1-2 years experience in a wood or manufacturing shop,
• Previous experience as a machine operator,
• Knowledge of varieties of wood and/or laminate.
