Heavy equipment operator Full Time NEW
Habanero Landscape Solutions Corp. is seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Operator to support landscape construction and ecological restoration projects in the Greater Victoria area.
Our projects are typically located in residential environments and environmentally sensitive areas where access is limited and precise operation of compact machinery is required. The successful candidate will operate equipment such as mini-excavators, skid steers, and compact loaders to perform excavation, grading, trenching, and site preparation for landscape construction and restoration work.
Unlike large industrial construction or mining operations, our projects require operators who are comfortable working in tight-access areas and who can operate compact equipment with precision while protecting surrounding vegetation, soil structure, and existing site features.
Responsibilities:
1. Operate compact heavy equipment including mini-excavators, skid steers, and compact loaders
2. Perform excavation, trenching, grading, and backfilling
3. Prepare base layers for retaining walls, drainage systems, and hardscape installations
4. Move and distribute soil, gravel, and other construction materials
5. Assist with landscape construction and ecological restoration activities
6. Perform pre-operational equipment inspections and basic maintenance
7. Follow workplace safety procedures and site instructions
Requirements
1. Minimum 2 years of experience operating heavy equipment such as excavators or skid steers
2. Experience with excavation, grading, trenching, or construction site preparation
3. Ability to operate compact machinery in tight-access residential work environments
4. Strong attention to safety and equipment operation procedures
5. Valid driver’s licence
