Experienced Seamstress / Sewing & Repair Specialist Full Time NEW
We need someone who can really sew.
Kumpfy Shoes & Repair is looking for a talented, experienced seamstress or sewing repair specialist to join our repair team in Canmore.
This isn’t a production sewing job, and you won’t spend your days doing the same thing over and over.
One day you might replace a zipper in a ski jacket, the next repair a favourite pair of pants, patch technical outdoor gear, fix a backpack, alter clothing or figure out how to save something a customer thought was beyond repair.
If you love the challenge of figuring out how to fix things, you’ll fit right in.
What you’ll be working on
Our sewing department handles a huge variety of repairs and alterations, including:
Clothing alterations and repairs
Zipper replacement and repair
Jackets, ski pants and outdoor clothing
Technical and performance fabrics
Workwear
Backpacks, bags and outdoor gear
Patching, reinforcing and repairing damaged garments
Webbing, straps and buckles
Hemming, resizing and general alterations
Interesting repair jobs that don’t always come with instructions!
Who we’re looking for
We’re looking for someone who already knows their way around a sewing machine and has strong sewing and garment-construction skills.
You may have worked as a seamstress, tailor, alterations specialist, industrial sewer, costume sewer, outdoor-gear repair technician or in another professional sewing environment.
Experience with industrial sewing machines, technical fabrics, outdoor clothing or gear repair is a big asset, but we’re also interested in an excellent garment sewer who is keen to expand their repair skills.

Can troubleshoot unusual repairs
Isn’t afraid to take something apart to figure out how to put it back together
Takes pride in making things last
Is dependable and organized
Enjoys working independently as well as being part of a small team
