About the Role
As a Steel Fabricator, you’ll play a key role in producing high-quality structural and industrial steel components. You’ll work from detailed drawings, weld to CWB standards, and take ownership of your work from fit-up through final inspection. This is hands-on, shop-based fabrication at its finest.
Key Responsibilities
Welding & Fabrication
• Weld to CWB standards, ensuring consistent quality and appearance across all joints and assemblies.
• Interpret fabrication drawings, blueprints, and welding specifications accurately.
• Set up jigs, fixtures, and layouts for efficient and repeatable production.
• Prepare joints and weld based on project requirements.
• Perform cutting, fitting, and welding of mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminum.
Production & Quality Control
• Review shop drawings and verify measurements, tolerances, and fit-up.
• Conduct pre-fit inspections and maintain strict quality standards.
• Ensure that all fabricated assemblies meet both internal and customer specifications.
• Maintain clean, organized work areas with proper housekeeping and material handling.
Safety & Communication
• Follow all company health, safety, and environmental procedures.
• Participate in daily safety meetings and proactively report hazards or near-misses.
• Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and quality control personnel.
Skills & Qualifications
• 5+ years of experience in steel fabrication and welding (structural or industrial).
• Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings and weld symbols.
• A minimum of 1 year of experience using manual and semi-automated fabrication tools and equipment.
• CWB certification preferred (SMAW, FCAW, GMAW).
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving abilities.
• Effective at communicating verbally and reviewing written instruction (English language).
• Self-motivated, dependable, and able to work with minimal supervision.
• Comfortable in a fast-paced, production-driven environment.
