The Wings is a 12-person independent living community located on the West Shore
Village property in Langford, BC. Reporting to the Executive Director of West Shore
Village, we are seeking a House Manager who will be responsible for the day-to-day
operation of The Wings. The ideal candidate is a mature, organized and confident selfstarter
who is prepared to roll-up their sleeves and do what needs to be done to
support the residents and who will, under the direction of the Executive Director of
West Shore Village, assume responsibility for the smooth and safe operation of this 12-
person Independent Living Community.
Responsibilities
The duties and responsibilities of the House Manager include but are not limited to:
admit new residents, orientate them/their family to the Community and make
them feel truly welcomed and at home.
assist residents/families with the move out process and coordinate suite-turn
overs.
assist with activities of daily living such as assisting residents with mobility issues,
one-person assist to/from chair/bed, assisting with completing dressing (i.e.,
coats, buttons, footwear) *

common area housekeeping including vacuuming, mopping, dusting.
laundry including personal laundry.
assisting with meal service and clean up.
organizing maintenance requests as needed.
assisting with portering residents to/from Westshore Village as required.
assisting with planning and participating in activities with the residents.
supporting family visits.
maintaining inventory including ordering supplies.
preparing housekeeping routines and orientating all new staff to the Wings.
ensure that the Community is well-maintained at all times.
responding to emergency call bells and contacting next-of-kin or emergency
personnel as may be required.
maintaining accurate and timely documentation in each residents Personal Care
Record as required.
receiving and resolving resident/family questions and concerns and escalating
issues to the Executive Director as required.
assisting residents with organizing transportation as required.
follow a schedule of risk management and quality improvement initiatives and
take correction action as required.
liaising with Community Health Workers as may be required for Residents
receiving community support.
handling building emergencies and assuming the Fire Warden role in the event of
a fire alarm.
