B DESCRIPTION
PURPOSE OF JOB The Area manager plays a key role in achieving Customer Satisfaction, Driving sales and overall unit performance. As a leader in the market, the Area Manager will need to deliver against 3 main areas – Team, Customer and Profit. The Area Manager has operational responsibility and the cornerstone of the Area Manager’s role is to spend nearly two-thirds of their time conducting structured and tailored restaurant visits in which they coach and direct Restaurant General Managers to improve customer satisfaction, team development and overall profitability. The Area Manager will typically support approximately 10 Restaurants depending on geographic density and other operating factors.
JOB FUNCTIONS
Customer Satisfaction
Ensures KFC CHAMPS standards of product quality, facility cleanliness and customer satisfaction are met.
Ensures that staff reviews are conducted according to schedules, works with Restaurant General Manager (RGM) and team to analyse and develop action plans, follows up and revises action plans as necessary.
Monitors and implements programmes to improve order accuracy, speed of service, courtesy and cleanliness.
Coaches and models team involvement in problem solving to improve customer satisfaction.
Follows up on customer complaints to ensure quality, timely response
Identifies and implements process improvements that drive customer satisfaction and profitability in conjunction with the Senior Area Manager.
Works with RGM to implement effective scheduling.
Reviews restaurant management work schedules for alignment.
Team
Selects and develops RGMs and AGMs (Assistant General Managers) in conjunction with their Senior Area Manager.
Monitors RGM in recruiting, selecting and training employees to ensure restaurant’s staffing needs are attained in a timely/cost-efficient manner.
Provides input on training needs and effectiveness, monitors Developing Champions training processes to ensure quality training follow up and reinforcement.
Responsible for quality training for restaurant management, including RGM, AGM and TL (Team Leader) using the Companies Developing Champions training programme.
Ensures quality performance appraisal, Individual Development Planning (IDP) and People Plan Review (PPR) process, emphasising implementation of value-added developmental activities.
Develops and assists in certification of RGMs who will conduct new management training and other district training.
Performance manages, and effectively uses the disciplinary procedures.
Practices effective employee relations and effectively resolves employee concerns.
Reviews appropriateness of team member terminations.
Executes an agreed succession plan in conjunction with Senior Area Manager within the Area to fill RGM, AGM and TL positions. Identifies and implements motivational programmes / incentives for team members.
Profit
Ensures aligns all stores to Driving Sales and maximises every opportunity to ensure maximum sales growth achieved at all times.
Coaches and assists RGMs in identifying sales growth opportunities, implementing approved marketing and merchandising programmes and controlling product, labour and other controllable expenses in conjunction with the Senior Area Manager.
Ensures compliance with all health and safety laws and KFC HR policies by conducting meetings, posting required notices, performing quarterly restaurant audits and taking appropriate actions.
Ensures achievement of profit and sales targets in assigned area.
Approves operating expenditures within guidelines for other controllables and inventory.
Ensures that required audits and controls are in place.
Reviews payroll documents to ensure compliance to schedule and authenticity of pay requests.
Audits cash handling procedures to ensure polls, deposits, receipts for cash, change fund, deletes and paid outs are handled appropriately.
Audits physical inventory in each restaurant.
General
Conducts Period Business reviews with all Direct Reports
Ensures Success Routines followed and adhered to by RGM’s AGMs and TLs
Conducts regular Coaching visits to the restaurants.

Assume additional responsibility of Projects and Project teams as assigned by the Senior Area Manager. Working Relationships:

Job Requirements
Degree level education preferable
Strong commercial skills & business acumen, excellent literacy, numeracy skills. Demonstrated track record of workplace achievement in the selection, coaching and development of employees
Strong coaching skills that can achieve results through the team in a collaborative fashion, Strong influencing skills.
Proven analytical ability
Strong organisational skills
Team player and able to work alone
Thorough knowledge of YUM! Performance metrics, products specifications and management systems
High personal standards, Strong communication skills,Excellent planning and time management Full driving licence
