INVISTA’s Maitland site produces DYTEK®A amine, a chemical intermediate used globally in products such as polyamide plastics, fibers, adhesives, curing agents, polyurethanes, vitamins, pharmaceuticals, and epoxy resins. Maitland Site also operates Cogeneration Units, a Hydrogen Plant and Utilities operation.

INVISTA has set the goal of sustaining a world-class level of performance and we are looking for the right Intern candidate with a high motivation and ambitious drive to join our team as a Mechanical Engineer – Intern at our Maitland, Ontario site.

This opening is for an 8-12 month term, starting January 2025

What You Will Do

• Provide day-to-day engineering support to Operations and Maintenance. (Troubleshooting, problem solving, coordination, etc.)
• Perform engineering functions as determined by your expertise, experience, and ability to learn and work with people in a complex chemical manufacturing environment.
• Seek out and apply emerging technologies in sensors, analytics, and vision. Including advanced digitization strategies to modernize the site’s manufacturing process.
• Assist small projects including the development of objectives, economics, scope, construction, implementation, commissioning, training, and start-up.
• Analyze large data sets to generate knowledge systems that present actionable information.
• Integrate monitoring technologies into predictive and preventative maintenance programs.
• Develop / improve dashboards to better guide shift team decisions.
• Potentially developing Apps for operations using MS Forms.
• Assist with the spare parts recommendations and BOM in SAP.
• Other opportunities to self-identify work are available depending on the student’s capabilities and interests while in the work term.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

• Currently enrolled in a u niversity Mechanical Engineering intern degree program, in 2 nd year or higher.
• Able to work within a chemical manufacturing environment.

What Will Put You Ahead

• Hands-on mechanical interest and aptitude.
• Experience with CAD.
• Experience with Microsoft O365 Applications including SharePoint Online, Power BI, PowerApps, etc.
• Experience with SAP, DCS, OSI PI & SEEQ.
• Experience in or knowledge of innovative chemical manufacturing/refining solutions.
