Department Summary

On behalf of Maximus Canada and in support of our client business departments, the Technology Services Department provides services that supports them in delivering better outcomes for their clients. With over 25 staff, the Technology Services Department provides the following services:

Position Summary

The Technical Analyst provides technical vision, direction, and support to advise management and senior IM/IT staff on requirements and future planning relating to Azure solutions, Hosting Environment, Storage solution, Virtualization, Network, Cloud solution, DevOps support, Windows Server environments, Backups, and Disaster Recovery planning and implementation. Responsible for managing a complex Azure environment along with Linux/Unix and Windows Server environments. Provides expertise in the areas of hosting, physical and virtual server administration, clustering, datacenter storage systems, and backup and disaster recovery solutions.

Your typical week at Maximus

• Provides subject matter expertise and guidance in Azure solutions, Windows Server environments, systems performance management, server administration, virtual server technology, storage area networks, server and data backups and recovery.
• Provides solutions and architecture for physical and virtual Linux/Unix and Windows Server environments with a focus on Azure integration.
• Leads projects and provides technical assistance for incident, problem, and change management.
• Researches, identifies, and recommends software, applications, and hardware that will improve the stability of systems, networks, and Azure environments.
• Recommends and implements policies and practices to maximize resource utilization in Azure, Windows Server, and on-premise environments.
• Documents and communicates technology standards and procedures to IM/IT staff, management, project managers, and the appropriate user community representatives.
• Takes a lead role in the development, implementation, and maintenance of the data recovery aspects of the organization’s backup strategy and disaster recovery plan, especially in Azure and Windows Server environments.
• Maintains knowledge on developments, trends, and best practices in technology and business networks, with a focus on Azure solutions and Windows Server environments.

What you offer us

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

• Extensive experience building, maintaining, and providing support for Azure and Windows Server environments, as well as Linux/Unix server environments.
• Demonstrated experience to efficiently build, maintain, and support complex server and network environments with a focus on Azure solutions and Windows Server environments.
• Ability to maintain current skills aligned with new and emerging technologies, especially Azure and Windows Server.
• Demonstrated ability to provide clear and concise briefing materials for executives as well as system documentation and procedures for other staff.
• Knowledge of industry-standard change management implementation such as ITIL.
• Team player with solid analytical and troubleshooting skills, the ability to organize and prioritize tasks.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with all stakeholders.
• Familiar with DevOps methodology and Azure DevOps tools.

Education and Experience

• Degree or diploma from an accredited university or college in Computer Science or an IT-related discipline with 3-5 years’ experience managing diverse technology projects including planning, executing, and evaluation or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Azure Certification, Windows Server Administration, and Enterprise Storage Administration are highly desirable.
• Preferred certifications: Azure Administrator Associate, RHCSA or RHCE, Backup solutions, ITIL, Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate.
