Pay Range
VHA’s Extreme Cleaner is responsible for providing practical and thorough household assistance to VHA clients. They will work with diverse client groups to meet public health standards. Responsibilities include, de-cluttering and discarding of unwanted items, washing walls, floors and windows, doing laundry, cleaning and sanitizing appliances, cupboards and closets. Household and support activities are performed in such a manner as to encourage independence of client and the prevention or delay of institutionalization. All activities are conducted within the client service plan and the policies, procedures and standards of confidentiality of VHA.
Key Areas of Accountability
VHA’s Extreme Cleaners have the following key areas of accountability, but not limited to:
Performs a combination of home cleaning services including: washing floors, sinks, and related surfaces; vacuuming, dusting and wiping down fridge and stove exterior; laundry and ironing; emptying wastebaskets; polishing furniture; washing accessible interior windows; and cleaning and organizing the inside of cupboards, stoves and fridges.
Performs tatks according to the client’s specifications, and using the client’s products and equipment, according to a pre-set time allowance as arranged by the agency. The client arranges for a specific set of tasks, however, any task, may be added or replaced at the client’s specific request.
Completes time-keeping protocols ensuring accuracy and timely submission in accordance with VHA policy.
Participates in team meetings as requested, with a commitment to contribution and service development.
Participates on project teams as appropriate.
Shares in handling workload for positive results.
Required Qualifications:
Minimum of one year’s experience in private or institutional cleaning.
Experience working with vulnerable clients who are dealing with age-related health conditions and/or mental disabilities is an asset.
Good physical and mental health.
Ability to work independently while following pre-set instructions and work cooperatively with the care-giving team.
Ability to read and write English (equivalent to the Grade 8 level).
Must be flexible to be able to support a diverse client group.
