Bicycle Mechanic (NOC 73209)

Job duties

Primary job duties include:

1. Diagnosing issues, problem solving, maintaining, repairing, and servicing all models of bicycles including e-bikes.
2. Greeting customers and quoting for any service work required on their bike.
3. Inspecting bicycles including e-bikes to determine the requirement for repair.
4. Repairing or replacing defective or worn-out bicycle (incl. e-bike) parts and components using hand, power and specially designed tools.
5. Testing and adjusting repaired bicycles (incl. e-bikes) for proper functioning.
6. Performing routine maintenance on bicycles incl. e-bikes.
7. Taking in consignment bikes, researching and pricing items for re-sale.
8. Conducting pre-and-post trip inspections on e-bike rental fleet.
9. Assisting e-bike renters with sizing and instruction on e-bike operation prior to rental
10. Retail sales for bikes and other sporting goods offered by Sports Garage.

Terms of employment

Full-time, 40 hours/week

Expected Employment Start Date: as soon as possible

Wage

$23/hour

Skills requirements – Education and Work experience

Education: High School Diploma required

Work Experience:

• Minimum 3 years previous experience working as a mechanic in a reputable bike shop.
• Knowledge of and experience maintaining and repairing e-bikes.
• Demonstrable experience working with a variety of hand, power and specialty tools for bicycle and e-bike repair
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with little supervision
